The 6th International Day for Street Children takes place on 12th April 2016, providing a platform for millions of street children around the world to speak out so that their rights cannot be ignored.
This year Consortium for Street Children (CSC) wants to challenge negative perceptions of street children and highlights their potential.
CSC is very pleased to invite applications from organisations wishing to participate in Building with Bamboo, an international learning project exploring resilience-based approaches to working with street-connected children who are exposed to sexual abuse and sexual exploitation. This exciting two-year project is in partnership with the Oak Foundation. The deadline for applications is 4th April 2016.
For the first time street children across the world have a unique chance to make their voices heard and influence governments.
Street children from over 25 countries are taking the lead in seven pioneering consultation events and their views will be reflected in the forthcoming UN Committee on the Rights of the Child’s General Comment on Children in Street Situations.
As Digital Officer (Shared Learning), you will develop CSC’s digital content across a number of platforms, including its online Global Resource Centre.
CSC trustee Pamella Bisson was once a homeless child struggling to survive on the streets of Rio, Brazil, with her family and later a homeless teenager in London.
Wednesday 2nd December saw the annual British Airways Community and Conservation Day held at their head offices in Heathrow.
Vulnerable unaccompanied teenagers are being forgotten in the ongoing refugee crisis in Greece.
CSC took part in a major UN consultation on homelessness in Buenos Aires in November 2015.
