CSC are very pleased to announce that we have now selected three learning partners for Building with Bamboo!
Building with Bamboo is our new project in partnership with Oak Foundation, exploring how resilience-based approaches can improve outcomes for street-connected children exposed to sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.
Having received over 45 applications, we have now selected Juconi Ecuador, SALVE International in Uganda, and CWISH in Nepal to work with us on this exciting initiative. Each site will take forward findings from the Oak Foundation’s Bamboo 1 research and explore further how we can embed resilience in the way we work with street-connected children.

The learning from these pilots will then be shared through a brand new online Community of Practice and Learning, to be launched in October 2016. This online network will be a place for everyone who works with street-connected children to come together to talk about resilience and share their knowledge, experiences and ideas.

Playing a crucial part in Building with Bamboo are the Resilience Champions – on-the-ground leaders based within each pilot site. We are thrilled to be working with Martha Espinoza in Ecuador, Alfred Ochaya in Uganda, and in Nepal with Krishna Subedi. Between them they have decades of experience working with street-connected children.

Each Champion will be establishing a learning pilot at their site and driving a developmental evaluation of how resilience and strengths-based approaches can help children protect themselves from sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.
