12th April 2017 marked the seventh annual International Day for Street Children.
Street-connected children and the workers and organisations who work with them celebrated the event around the globe with events, workshops, media conferences, marches, street plays and much more.
This year was extra cause to celebrate and raise the profile of the sector as we await the publication of the UN General Comment on Children in Street Situations, which will set out authoritative legal guidance for Governments to ensure street children can claim their rights.
Consortium for Street Children launched the ‘This Is Our Time Campaign’ on the International Day, which will aim to ensure street children’s rights are respected through implementation of the General Comment worldwide.
