CSC Projects
DFID and Railway Children
About the project
CSC has partnered with Railway Children to deliver our ‘Advocating for the Implementation of the UN General Comment to Change Lives of Tanzanian Street Children’ project.
Funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) UK Aid Direct programme, this project as a whole will strengthen the quality of services for nearly 4,000 street children in six of the largest urban areas in Tanzania.
Many of the current laws and policies in Tanzania are falling short of their obligations to street children, meaning that they are missing out on vital services such as legal aid, social welfare and juvenile justice. As specialists in global advocacy for street children, CSC are using the UN General Comment to analyse existing laws and regulations, develop practical procedures for government and civil society to work together at local level, and helping the Tanzanian government to design services that are specifically targeted at street children.
