Summary

These papers draws on evidence gathered by street-connected peer researchers in Kolkata, West Bengal as part of a participatory Vulnerability & Service Mapping (V&SM) initiative undertaken by Child in Need Institute (CINI) and StreetInvest from 2019-2021, funded by Wellcome Trust.

The study examines the complex vulnerabilities of living and/or working on the streets in Kolkata, and the extent to which services and support are available and accessible to address them.

Paper 1, Safety on the Streets, provides an overview of the key findings in relation to street-connected children’s experience of violence and access to protection.

Paper 2, Health and Wellbeing of street-connected children and youth, provides an overview of the key findings in relation to street-connected children’s health, wellbeing, and access to healthcare services.

Paper 3, Participation and Inclusion of street-connected children, provides an overview of the key findings in relation to street-connected children’s participation in community life and decision-making.
